Photo Frenzy

Today was SUCH an amazing day.  It was the Photo Frenzy challenge day, which was the best part of orientation.  Basically, we had to get in groups of 6 international students and were prepared with a camera and a list of clues of famous sites in Central London.  My group consisted of Caitlin, Laura, Alex, Kelly and Stephanie.  Each group had to meet at Waterloo Station and go find 8 famous landmarks and take a crazy picture with each one.  Our transportation method was the train and the tube and that was my first experience with both of those, so that was super exciting.

We walked all over Central London, including seeing Big Ben, 10 Downing Street, The London Eye, Wesminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tate Museum, the London Bridge and sooo many more places!  My obsession with the royal family has only increased since arriving in London, so seeing where Diana & Charles AND Kate & William got married was so awesome!  We were all so exhausted and my feet were KILLING me by the end of the challenge, so we headed back to Waterloo and met up with the other teams.

From there, we went to Hyde Park and went to a state-fair like carnival there called "Winter Wonderland" which was kind of like a German fair with mulled wine, bratwurst, and even a bar carousel!  It was just like a bar inside of a carousel, with tables around the horses, so cool.  After that we headed to Putney to meet other international students for dinner at a small chicken restaurant that had amazing chips (fries) and some awesome Savanna Cider beer (had to go for it because of the name) we all were so excited to actually be full after a meal! After that, we headed to a pub nearby for a little bit, but it was so crowded, it prompted us to leave and head home.  Hopefully the crowds will die down some!

Highlight of my day: Seeing so many amazing places that I have seen in movies/tv/everywhere before, and finally experiencing them firsthand.  Also, getting my oyster card!  This is a card that I put pounds on in order to ride the bus, tube, or train.  Not only is it going to save me money, but it makes me feel like a true Londoner! :)

For now, I'll leave you with some pictures from the Photo Frenzy today.  Off to bed for another exciting day in London-Putney tomorrow!
